The Town of Smoky Lake is known as the Pumpkin Capital of Alberta and the home of the annual Great White North Pumpkin Fair. This combined with the Smoky Lake Stampede and other events throughout the year makes the town a must visit. Residents and visitors enjoy state of the art recreational facilities and services. With its history of fur trading at the intersection of the North Saskatchewan river and surrounding lakes, the Town quickly became a hub for businesses and remains an important business centre in Alberta.

Although the Town of Smoky lake doesn’t have a huge francophone presence, the Town recognizes and supports bilingualism as a driver for economic growth and development.
