Town of McLennan 

Known as the “Bird Capital of Canada”, McLennan, Alberta is located in the beautiful Peace Country. The population in 2021 was 695 and although small, McLennan is a community with a lot of heart. The town provides services to the entire region with the local hospital and the RCMP detachment. The beautiful church is nestled among the vast fields of the Peace Country. Initially built within the context of the railway, this town continued its growth through the years and is now a thriving community that has not forgotten its roots and brings the community together. 

Bilingualism in the Town of McLennan

Historically, McLennan had early French settlers come to the area, like many other municipalities in Peace Country. To this day, the support for its bilingual residents and the understanding of the value of French and bilingualism as a driver for economic growth is ever present.
